PM Modi at 7th India Mobile Congress: India will lead the world in 6G

On October 27, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the keynote address at the 7th India Mobile Congress 2023, saying, “The future is here and now,” according to ANI. The venue for the event is New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan.

Speaking at the India Mobile Congress, PM Modi used data to demonstrate how the nation went from being an importer to an exporter and how major tech companies, such as Apple and Google are vying to establish manufacturing operations in India. “This event has the potential to change the fate of people in the rapidly changing world of the 21st century”, Prime Minister Modi stated. “However, because of the current technological advancements, we claim that the future is now.”

The PM said that India should establish itself as a thinking leader as a logical step from being an adopter and implementer of technology, stating that the 21st century is the moment for India's thought leadership in the technology arena.

Modi emphasized that India is now the world’s second-largest mobile producer, in contrast to 2014 when the nation was a net importer of mobile devices. He continued by saying that the nation also produces electronics worth Rs 2 trillion for export.

Earlier at the event, IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that India is emerging as a telecom technology developer, exporter and leader. Telecom is the gateway of digital, Vaishnaw said, citing the speedy roll-out of 5G services in India and the nation's clear 6G vision.

"Heroes never die. They live on forever in the hearts and minds of those who would follow in their footsteps."
