Parliament Special Session Live Updates: PM Modi To Address Lok Sabha on Day 1

A five-day special session of Parliament is all set to begin today to commemorate the 75-year journey of the Parliament. Discussions about the development of India's parliamentary democracy are on the agenda. Eight proposals in all have been scheduled for discussion and approval in this session.

The extraordinary session, according to PM Modi, would be used to make historic choices. The PM asked participants to make the meeting productive. The CEC Bill was shelved amid opposition objections, marking a significant development. During the previous monsoon session, the Bill was presented in the Rajya Sabha.

PM Modi addressed the media ahead of the session. At the presser, speaking on the successful Moon mission, Chandrayaan-3, the G20 Summit, and the Global South—especially with the inclusion of the African Union in the G20—Modi emphasized India's role in becoming a major voice in space tech. The special session was described as "short but significant" by Modi.
